πŸ“ An open-air MUSEUM in Sicily: Fiumara D'arte πŸ“– πŸ“Έ πŸŽ₯

A pyramid in nothingness, a labyrinth, a curve "threwn" behind time... this and much more is Fiumara d'Arte.

Evaluation of Fiumara D'arte

The history of Fiumara d'Arte begins in 1986 with the work "La materia poteva non ciri" by Pietro Consagra, a powerful monument that marks the starting point of this incredibly original artistic journey.

Since then, year after year, other artists have let themselves be conquered by these timeless spaces scattering their creations among valleys, secondary roads and hills that seem made on purpose to accommodate the unexpected, the result is an open-air museum extended over a vast territory that crosses about six municipalities and where each work blends with the landscape in a surprising way.

To really live Fiumara d'Arte you need to be ready to get on the road: you need a car, time and also a good dose of patience and spirit of adventure because the works are scattered, often far from each other and reaching them means leaving behind the inhabited centers and moving on to places that seem to come out of a dream.

The pyramid 38Β° Parallel is probably the most scenographic and fascinating work of the entire route, a silent giant that stands out against the sky and that attracts visitors and photographers from all over the world, but it is not the only one: Arianna's Labyrinth invites you to get lost and find yourself between its stone walls while A curve thrown behind time accompanies the traveler along an almost meditative path.

Fiumara d'Arte is also mystery and expectation, because among his works there is an unknown one, which the artist chose to make visible only after his death, this adds a touch of legend to this extraordinary artistic adventure.

Visiting Fiumara d'Arte means immersing yourself in a journey out of the box where art and nature are intertwined in an unpredictable way and where each stage becomes an opportunity for discovery, wonder and reflection.

Below is the complete list of Fiumara's works of art with the link to the dedicated Wikipedia page:

It all started almost by chance, when I heard that "in Sicily there is a pyramid".

Curiosity, as often happens in the most beautiful trips, has pushed me to learn more, thus discovering a unique place that few really know: a widespread open-air museum called Fiumara d'Arte, an experience that winds through the province of Messina and that has the flavor of adventure and wonder.

It is incredible to think that in the midst of wild and silent landscapes there is a real collection of contemporary works of art born from the vision of artists who wanted to leave their mark where no one would expect it.

Experiential tourism in Sicily starts from Fiumara D'arte.
