Evaluation of Rome

I have lost count of how many times I have been to Rome, but I know this: Rome is never "too much". Every time I return, it manages to reveal something new, a feeling, a hidden corner, or a different light on something I thought I already knew.

When I visited the first few times I didn't have a YouTube channel or even a good camera, so many memories remained only in my mind. But maybe that's a good thing because Rome is a city to be fully lived, not just photographed.

One thing I have always appreciated is how intuitive it is to get around; the metro is well organized and the stops take you exactly where you want to go, with names that coincide with the places to visit, such as Colosseum, Spain, Ottaviano, Barberini etc. So even first time visitors can navigate easily without overthinking it.

Rome is culture, great food, beauty, history, but also chaos, energy and spontaneity; it is a city that adapts to whoever visits: whether you are looking for art, nightlife or simply a place to walk for hours without a set destination.

Evenings along the Tiber are one of my favorite moments especially in summer when the riverfront is filled with events, live music and an incredible amount of people enjoying the city in a simple and authentic way, maybe sitting on a bench with a glass of wine.

The historic center is an open-air museum, from the Colosseum to the Trevi Fountain, from Piazza Venezia to Via del Corso to Piazza di Spagna; everything is close and is always full of people who mingle between tourists and Romans, every corner looks like a film set that does not need any filters.

Within Rome lies an entire state of its own: the Vatican, which definitely worth a visit, with its museums, the Sistine Chapel and a unique atmosphere that blends spirituality with breathtaking art. It is a place that leaves an impression, even if you are not particularly religious..

If you want to step off the classic tourist paths, head to CinecittΓ  and visit the historic studios of Italian cinema. They reveal another side of the city, less known but interesting; nearby you will also find a large shopping center perfect for a break.

Summers in Rome can be intense because of the heat, so much so that many Romans move to the seaside,  especially in Ostia, which offers both free beaches and paid establishments. The famous numbered beach entrances seem endless on some days. Among them  there is also one of the most famous naturist beaches in Italy, though I didn't get the chance to visit it.

Rome is a city that enters you slowly but deeply; no matter how many times you've been there, when you leave you miss it and when you go back you feel like you've never really left.

In 2021 I visited the capital for a good cause: an event for travel agents and tourism operators, some of you will remember the old history of Covid and refreshments, right? In any case, I invite you to read the dedicated article.
