Evaluation of the ship

MSC Grandiosa is one of those ships that truly stays in your heart: imposing, elegant, full of services and surprises. It manages to combine the comfort of a floating city with the magic of a sea voyage.

One of the aspects I loved the most is definitely the Galleria Grandiosa, a large central promenade that crosses the ship like a main street of a modern metropolis where shops of all kinds, restaurants, bars are concentrated and also a fun karaoke bar where I spent carefree evenings with friends, we have already seen the same style with "gallery" on MSC Meraviglia in the dedicated article.

I can't fail to mention the impressive casino, a real attraction for those who love the thrill of the game, as well as the numerous pools, especially the whirlpools, which offer moments of pure relaxation. Another highlight of this ship is the buffet, where it's always possible to taste specialities from all over the world in a bright, well kept environment.

There is also a small disco, a smokers reserved area  (increasingly rare on modern ships) and a multitude of bars that keep the ship lively at all hours of the day and night.

The restaurants with their refined atmosphere are a delight both for the eyes and the palate, though at times the service could be a little faster. But in the end, that too is part of the unique rhythm of life on board.

I was lucky enough to board the Grandiosa several times: the first time it was just for a visit, and then twice more for real cruises with itineraries in the western Mediterranean.

The first experience was really unforgettable, one of the most beautiful cruises ever taken, also with the sociability on board and the festive atmosphere.

Unfortunately, the second time, after the pandemic, some things had changed and the experience was somewhat affected: the sauna was closed, access to the whirlpools was only by reservation, masks were mandatory in the gym, and the disco was not operational. To make matters worse, in the restaurant the tables were organized by "cabin" instead of being mixed at large shared tables as in the past.

The thing that stuck with me the most is that in March 2020, we landed in Palermo just the day before the lockdown due to Covid-19, I still remember the deserted streets and the worried faces of the people.

On board we had lived a week of normality and relaxation without knowing anything about what was happening on the ground, landing in that surreal silence was a shock, as if in a single week the world had changed without us really noticing.

Despite the changes and restrictions experienced in the second cruise, the Grandiosa remains for me one of the most beautiful ships of MSC, a true queen of the seas where every trip turns into a memory to keep.
