Valutazione delle Terme naturali

Getting there is an adventure in itself : you leave your car in a dirt parking lot that is not easy to reach unless you're confident driving on rough roads, and from there continue on foot, surrounded by Mediterranean scrub and silence, until you arrive at the natural pools, true gifts from nature.

The main pool welcomes you with its sulfurous thermal waters , at around 40 degrees, enveloping the body in a regenerating embrace. But the magic does not end there: along the cool river there are other smaller pools, each with its own temperature and peculiarities. The cooler pools give relief and pleasure especially in the days of the torrid Sicilian summer.

One of the most striking details is the presence of a sulfur cave, an almost mystical environment where you can breathe vapors rich in sulfur and try natural mud on your skin, a real cuddle for your body that leaves the skin smooth, purified and incredibly luminous.

There is also a thermal waterfall, a little corner of paradise where you can let the warm stream massage your shoulders, surrendering completely to nature in an experience as simple as it is unforgettable.

Of course, like any authentic place there are also "rough edges" that add to the adventure: the road to get there, in fact, is rather tortuous and not exactly easy for those driving a low car, especially after the rain when the dirt ground becomes mud and every step must be taken carefully.

Reaching the farthest pools along the river can require some effort especially at certain times of the year when the bottom becomes slippery and in the evening you can't do without a flashlight to move safely unless there is a full moon.

Another unique feature of this place is its naturist vocation: here it is completely normal and almost obvious to see people who choose to live this experience in close contact with nature by bathing naked, without embarrassment and immersed in an atmosphere of respect and freedom. This detail, perhaps unusual for those who are not used to it, makes the feeling of being out of this world and far from all judgment even more authentic, you feel fully part of a natural scenario of rare beauty.

If you love nature and are looking for a real and out-of-the-box experience, the Terme di Segesta will stay in your heart.

In 2020, a "suspended" and complicated year marked by the arrival of Covid and the need to change habits and priorities, I felt the urge to experience a different kind of Ferragosto, setting aside the idea of taking a plane and instead choosing to rediscover my Sicily, a land we too often take for granted but that always finds a way to surprise.

I decided to dedicate my trip to local wonders, choosing to explore one of the most authentic and evocative corners of the island: the Natural Baths of Segesta near Trapani. This is a place where nature still manifests itself in its purest and most powerful form, a corner of paradise where time seems to have stopped, though not necessarily a destination for everyone.
