πŸ““ TortolΓ¬ and OrrΓ¬ πŸ“–

My experience in Tortolì dates back to the summer of 2016 and lasted about two months, I was there to work as an animator in a tourist village, but in the end it turned out to be a real immersion in Sardinian life, in a territory that surprised me with its beauty, atmosphere and rhythm.

Evaluation of Tortolì and Orrì

TortolΓ¬ is located on the eastern coast of Sardinia and while many people associate the island's north exclusively with the Costa Smeralda, this area is actually vast and, in many ways, even more authentic. Here you won't find mega-resorts or luxury yachts, instead, you will discover campsites, small villages, free beaches, and a simpler, more genuine kind of tourism.

During my two months in Sardinia I met many people, mostly Italian families from northern Italy but also foreign tourists from Northern Europe. Most were traveling by campers or staying in tents, while others opted for mobile homes or bungalows. It was the kind of holiday that is all about freedom and nature.

Working as an entertainer gave me a unique perspective on the area. I woke up every day to the sound of the sea, spent my time running activities, games, and evening shows in the amphitheater, and shared plenty of laughter. But I also had the chance to enjoy free moments to explore on my own and to savor the beaches of Orrì, still among the most beautiful I have ever seen.

OrrΓ¬ is a small paradise made of soft, pale sand and transparent sea, a long, mostly undeveloped beach with very few facilities. Precisely because of this, it is perfect for anyone seeking peace and quiet, or for those who want to escape the crowds and spend hours under an umbrella without blaring music or street vendors passing by every five minutes.

Unlike the south of Sardinia and cities like Cagliari, life here is quieter and far less urbanized. Tortolì itself is a small town, not a bustling city , a fact that has both advantages and disadvantages. For example, in August, the phone network often crashes, the internet becomes unreliable, and sometimes it is impossible to send even a simple message.

But maybe that's part of the charm, because once you're there you realize that disconnecting is exactly what you needed: walking barefoot on the beach , swimming at sunset, going out for a walk in the evening or... going to a disco.

Yes, even though this is not the Costa Smeralda, summer here is vibrant. There are clubs, music, events , and plenty of opportunities to have fun, but all in a less commercial, less polished, and decidedly more human atmosphere.

If you are looking for a holiday that combines the sea, unspoiled nature, a pinch of social life and the opportunity to slow and breathe deeply, Tortolì and the Orrì area can be a discovery that you don't expect.

If you want to know more about what happened during my season as an animator then I suggest you read the dedicated article, there were really "special" moments, I also dedicated a chapter of my book to such experiences namely "The manual of the rebellious animator" in my writing "The Diary of unspoken things".
