It was in February 2024 that I had the privilege of visiting the wonderful city of Verona with my girlfriend and even today I can still relive every single moment with crystal clarity. The weather was a bit cold but it only added to the charm of this city, so rich in history and culture.

Evaluation of Verona

Arriving in the heart of Verona's historic center, we found ourselves immersed in a maze of narrow paved streets lined with historic buildings that seemed to whisper ancient stories just by looking at them. The romantic atmosphere of Verona was tangible from the very beginning, that is why I would define it as the perfect city to visit with your partner.

Our first stop was Piazza Bra, a vast and lively square dominated by the majestic Verona Arena. With its imposing stone structure standing proudly against the clear sky , it was truly exciting to find ourselves in front of such an iconic symbol of Italian culture.
After being captivated by the Arena, we continued on to Juliet's House. The main attraction of this magical place is, of course, the famous balcony, immortalized by Shakespeare in "Romeo and Juliet". Couples in love exchanged promises beneath the gaze of Juliet's statue, and we were not exception, as we too bought a padlock to leave our mark. It was a touching and heartfelt experience, a must for anyone visiting the city.
Leaving Juliet's world behind, our next stop was the Casa Museo Palazzo Maffei, a splendid historic building with frescoed facades and its intricate architectural details. It offered a deep immersion into Verona's rich history. Among the many works on display, I had the opportunity to discover different facets of Verona's culture, it is worth noting that the museum even houses a piece by Picasso.
At the end of this trip I took home not only unforgettable memories but also a deep sense of gratitude for having had the chance to explore such an extraordinary city, even in the cold. In my opinion, Verona can truly be considered the Italian "capital of Love" , perfect to experience with your other half, but it is also a cultural gem for art and history lovers.
The only downside, in my view, is the cost of living: although our four-star hotel was reasonably priced, everything else, from food to the classic souvenirs you buy for yourself or as gifts, felt quite expensive. On the other hand, the entrance fees for museums and attractions were fair and well balanced considering the experience they offer.
It's definitely an experience worth repeating, through preferably in a warmer season. I believe three or four nights are enough to fully enjoy Verona's main attractions at a relaxed pace.
