πŸ“ SLOW TOURISM experience and nature in Sicily πŸ“– πŸŽ₯ πŸ“Ž

Going slowly, stopping time, staying in the middle of nature, forgetting the phone and not looking at the schedule; this is much more in my SLOW experience.

I chose to experiment this philosophy in what I consider my personal refuge of peace, relaxation and well-being in Sicily: the Natural Baths of Segesta, to which I dedicated an article.

It was March, a period in which daily life had put me to the test and I really needed to disconnect so I allowed myself five days away from everything, immersed in wild landscapes, sulfur springs and a nature that, at that time, seemed even more intense and capable of regenerating body and mind.

To fully live the "slow" philosophy I imposed myself to forget schedules, appointments and the classic agenda of things to do, dedicating myself only to the spas and long walks through woods and paths, both day and night, I alternated hot and cold baths, moments of relaxation in the sulfur cave and long silences in which I simply let my thoughts wander without anxieties or distractions.

I was not alone: I met people, travelers with whom to share stories and simple moments, but what really marked my days were not the hands of the clock but my "biological clock" that decided when it was the right time to eat, rest or explore a little more.

In those days I practically put the phone aside, used only to record some video memories and for a few phone calls, trying to live every moment in the present without the need to immortalize everything or to immediately share the emotions experienced.

I went to eat only when I felt really hungry without worrying about the time and I moved freely between spas and beaches, where I walked listening only to the sound of the wind and nature.

The only crowded place where I chose to stop was the Rustic Restaurant in Calatafimi, a true temple of rural tourism where I could dine in peace and buy food to enjoy the next day.

This "slow" experience was a real healm for me: I felt lighter, full of new energy and above all ready to return to my daily, work and university commitments, with a different spirit, more serene and focused.

If you feel the need to unplug, find yourself and really regenerate, I can only recommend a trip like this: it takes little to remember that the real wealth of the trip is the time we choose to dedicate to it.

In recent years, the concept of "slow tourism" is spreading more and more among those who, like me, feel the need to slow down and live the journey in a more authentic way, letting themselves be guided not by the clock but by their own feelings and deep contact with nature.

If you are interested in Slow Tourism, I don't even talk about it in my book "Competence in the tourist world".
