Tourism fairs represent, for those like me working in this sector, one of the most anticipated and important events of the year, they are not only events where you can discover the latest news on destinations, travel proposals or new tourism trends; they are above all opportunities to meet colleagues from all over Italy, make friends, discuss, exchange advice and share laughter, stories and a bit of real life.

Before the pandemic, fairs were real "poles of attraction", always full of enthusiastic people eager to meet, learn and make new collaborations.

The atmosphere that was breathed was unique: every corner was teeming with ideas, chatter, handshakes and catalogs to browse.

Unfortunately, in recent years, thanks to Covid and its consequences, this vitality has gone out a little and, at least until 2022, it has not yet returned to normal, despite this, those who participate do so with the same desire to discover, learn and have fun.

These events, which are usually held in resort villages or large accommodation facilities, generally last three to four days and are organized down to the smallest detail.

The typical day begins with a breakfast together with the other operators, which is already a first moment of socialization, then you get lost among the stands of the tout operators and local authorities: here you collect valuable information, new catalogs and some original gadgets to take to the agency.

During the fair, presentations, events dedicated to new destinations or emerging types of tourism are organized, and you often have the opportunity to listen to experts and professionals in the sector who share their experiences.

One of the most anticipated moments is always the final draw: a ritual that is repeated every year and that rewards some lucky ones with a trip or a voucher usually for two people, adding a pinch of emotion and healthy competition between colleagues.

In the evening, then, the atmosphere becomes even more convivial: shows, themed dinners, festive moments and even songs and dances are organized that, more than once, have seen the birth of special friendships or even love stories between travel agents, after all those who work in tourism are often an open, sociable person with a great desire to live and share.

For me, participating in tourism fairs has now become an indispensable tradition: they are fundamental events not only to update professionally but also to recharge, forge new relationships and live a few days in the name of enthusiasm and lightness.

I am convinced that travel agents who do not participate in these events will miss something really valuable because fairs are part of the profession which, in addition to being a job, is first and foremost a great passion.
